To address the environmental and climate challenges society is facing, Pei’s asset manager has initiated a series of programs designed to enhance the eco-efficiency of its real estate portfolio.

These initiatives primarily focus on reducing energy consumption derived from non-renewable sources, as well as implementing effective water and waste management strategies. The overall goal is to contribute to the reduction of Pei’s carbon footprint and mitigate the environmental impacts of climate change.

What initiatives support it?

Pei’s asset manager adhered to Colombia’s National Roadmap for Net Zero Carbon Buildings, established by the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, which seeks carbon neutrality of buildings in the country by 2050.

To contribute to this objective, the asset manager has been making efforts since 2020 to measure the carbon footprint of the portfolio and carry out technical diagnoses in order to identify opportunities for improvement in terms of consumption and comfort.

Risk management is essential for ensuring business continuity. Therefore, Pei conducts periodic assessments of its exposure to risks, considering the economic, industry, and regulatory environment in which the company operates. This proactive approach enables the implementation and enhancement of risk prevention and management strategies.

To which SDGs does it contribute?

The asset manager performs assessments regularly to update Pei’s operational and strategic risk matrices, with the aim of enhancing or introducing new o stronger controls. As part of this process, in 2023, Pei AM implemented new controls to prevent information and cybersecurity risk. Additionally, the company issued a comprehensive Technology, Information and Cybersecurity Policy to guide Pei Asset Management employees in securing information.

Likewise, the asset manager is building a climate associated risk matrix to identify measures to protect the real estate portfolio.

Furthermore, Pei Asset Management is implementing initiatives to digitize and modernize Pei’s operational processes to mitigate operational risks, human error, and maintain a leadership position in digital practices.

In addition to these initiatives, the vehicle’s risk management is supported by its corporate governance and control architecture integrated by the different agents involved in Pei’s administration. To learn more, see the Corporate Governance Section.
