Bogotá, april 2020. PEI Asset Management, the real estate management arm of PEI, is progressing in its process of consolidation as a responsible investment manager in the country, having signed the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), which stands for Principles for Responsible Investment in English.
PRI aims to understand the impact of environmental, social, and corporate governance issues on investments and advise signatories on how to incorporate these matters into their investment decisions and ownership practices.
Pei Asset Management will apply the PRI principles developed by this independent organization, promoted by investors worldwide, in its investment management practices. The company will adopt these practices in the business of the vehicles it manages, for example, in the management of real estate assets within its portfolio.
In this way, Pei Asset Management officially becomes one of the more than 3 000 signatories representing more than USD 89 trillion in assets under management across more than 60 countries. Colombia has seven signatories, and in Latin America, there is 40. Pei Asset Management is one of them, and it is the first real estate fund manager in Latin America (excluding Brazil) to join as a signatory to PRI.
In this regard, Jairo Corrales, President of Pei Asset Management, stated: «As the leading real estate investment vehicle in the country, we understand the responsibility and impact that our operations have on the environment and surrounding communities. By implementing the practices promoted by PRI and further promoting a strong culture of sustainability within our team, we will increase the value we generate for these communities, tenants, and investors.»
