  • In line with its strategy to build a sustainable culture, Pei Asset Management seeks to implement international responsible-investment management standards within the organization.
  • Having been accepted as a signatory of the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), the company and its employees will contribute to fulfilling the principles for responsible investment.
  • As a result, the incorporation of Environmental, Social, and Governance criteria will deepen in asset management as well as in relationships with tenants and investors.
  • Pei Asset Management is the first real estate vehicle manager in Latin America (excluding Brazil) to join as a PRI signatory.

Bogotá, April 2020. PEI Asset Management, PEI’s real estate manager, continues to establish itself as a responsible-investment manager in the country by joining as a signatory of the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI).

PRI’s goal is to understand the impact of environmental, social, and corporate governance issues on investments, and to advise signatories on integrating these issues into their investment decisions and ownership practices.

Pei Asset Management will apply the PRI principles, developed by this independent, investor-driven organization, to its investment management practices. The company will adopt these practices across the vehicles it manages — in Pei’s case, in managing the portfolio’s real estate assets.

As a result, Pei Asset Management officially joins more than 3,000 signatories from more than 60 countries representing more than USD 89 trillion in assets under management. Colombia has seven signatories, and Latin America has 40. Pei Asset Management is one of them and is the first real estate vehicle manager in Latin America (excluding Brazil) to join as a PRI signatory.

On this, Jairo Corrales, president of Pei Asset Management, said: “As managers of the country’s leading real estate investment vehicle, we understand the responsibility and impact our operations have on the environment and surrounding communities. By implementing the practices promoted by PRI and deepening the promotion of a strong sustainability culture within our team, we will increase the added value we generate for those communities, for tenants, and for investors.”

ABOUT PRI

PRI is the world’s leading advocate for responsible investment.

It works to understand the implications of environmental, social, and governance factors on investments and to support its international network of signatory investors in incorporating these factors into their investment decisions. PRI acts in the long-term interests of its signatories, of the financial markets and economies in which they operate, and, ultimately, of the environment and society as a whole.

PRI is an independent organization. It encourages investors to use responsible investment to enhance returns and better manage risk, but does not operate for its own benefit. It engages with global policymakers but is not affiliated with any government. It is supported by, but is not part of, the United Nations.
